Our Wildcat Way

“We are the Lord’s, not our own, therefore we play His way. We commit to sacrifice individual desires and goals; to joyfully serve the Lord through team basketball; to communicate with boldness and kindness on and off the court; to vigilantly guard against division, distraction, and discouragement; to respect our God-given talents, authorities, teammates, and opponents; to play as one body with unmatched enthusiasm and energy, focusing on spirited, suffocating defense and passionate, precise offense; to treasure every possession of every game, practice and individual workout; to lead by using our influence to encourage character, diligence, and excellence in everything; to glorify God in victory and defeat; and to play in such a way as to win an imperishable prize.”

Registration Information

The Wildcats’ season is from October-March.  Practices begin in October, and games begin in November.  The season for most teams wraps up the end of February with the Midwest Regionals in Westfield, IN.  In March, our Varsity teams travel to Springfield, MO for Nationals.

Eligibility and Participant Fees:  Participants must be homeschooled according to NCHBC rules and regulations.  At the discretion of the coaches, players are allowed to “play up” one level above their age group.  Players participating in more than one level should pay  the higher level fee.  Teams will be determined after official practices begin in early October and before the balance of fees is due.  Tournament fees for the Boys and Girls Varsity teams attending the National Tournament are rolled into the fee structure.

Fundraising

Lower Your Registration Fees

Earn 50% for every business sponsorship you sell to be applied to your team fees! How it works:

Businesses can advertise in our team program.  If you sign a business up to advertise, you get HALF of the sponsorship money credited to your registration; the other half of the sponsorship money goes to the club!  For example, say you have $400 in registration fees this year.  If you get one business to advertise in our program at the Bronze level- which is $400; $200 would go to the Wildcats, and $200 would go toward your registration, leaving you with a balance of $200 to be paid.  We have some families who have aggressively fundraised, and covered all their registration fees!  They benefited, and the Wildcats benefited as well.

Volunteering

Volunteers are the life-blood of the organization. Without volunteers, the Wildcat organization DOES NOT function. During the registration process, you will be asked to select at least three things that you can help with. Below is a list of volunteers needed for this year, with descriptions of each.

Admission table: Home games. Collect admission.

Audio Set-Up: Home Games; pull out the audio cart, plug it in, and test mic plus mp3 player.

Clock/Scoreboard: Home Games; some tournament games. Run clock/scoreboard.

Youtube Live: Do live video in gyms with Wifi. This could involve capturing some of the crowd reactions, possibly interview coaches at halftime and players or coaches after the game.

Game Day Set Up: Home games only. Ensure bleachers, team benches and scorer’s table are set up properly and ready to go Live Scoring: Update MaxPreps live during the game so fans can follow the game online.

Photographers: Home and Away games. Take photos during games; these will be used for media purposes (website, Facebook, etc)

Post game clean up: Home games. Help pick up trash; chairs and bleachers if necessary.

Scorebook: Home and Away games. Keep official book. Sound system: Home games. Set up sound system for Varsity games.

Sweep floor: Home games. Sweep game floor at halftime or between games.

Tournament Hospitality: Help with admission, clock for semifinals/championships, coach/officials hospitality room, court set-up, court sweeping, hosting officials (directing to dressing room and courts), team/coach check-in, and updating wall brackets.

Team Manager/Team “Mom”: Supply a first aid kit and towels at each game, help with team communication, ensure players have rides to practices and games if needed, plan team dinners (if applicable), coordinate eating arrangements on overnight trips, wash uniforms on overnight trips.

Team Volunteer Coordinator: Schedule volunteers (clock, scorebook, clean up, etc) for one team onlyusually a team your child plays on.

Head Volunteer Coordinator: Work with each Team Volunteer Coordinator to make sure workers are scheduled for all games. Ensure that this information has been communicated to the coaches, and at home games compile this information to have at gym on game day.

Trip coordinator: Varsity Boys/Girls only. Research/secure hotels for overnight trips. Twitter updates: Random updates on the game action and atmosphere (maybe with some video).

Video Varsity Boys/Girls Games: Video games; supply to coach. These are used for a stat service for our Varsity teams.

Home Court Facility Guidelines

The Wildcat organization does charge admission for games.

We have a policy of no artificial noise makers at our games.  This will include drums, horns, etc.  We want everyone to be able to clap, yell and cheer the teams on without the distraction that noise makers bring.
